Solo In The City: ATL Top Destinations for Self-Dating
Okay Atlanta, more dating advice; but, this one’s a little more intimate.
You know the best way to ensure that you receive a quality date? Start dating yourself. Even if you’re in a relationship, dating yourself is a great way to take care of your mental, try things you like unapologetically and soak in the experience of the moment without worrying about someone else’s needs.
Listen, I've always been a firm believer that the men who know our value will step up. But in the meantime, or simply because we choose to, let’s celebrate ourselves, our successes, and our love of being fine and outside. Here are my top picks for solo dates in ATL, for when you're feeling a little "me time" in the city.
1. Knife ATL 🥩
If this isn’t your first time here, you know I’ve been raving about Knife ever since the first time they opened. For all my ladies who've got a taste for the finer things, Knife ATL offers an experience that’s nothing short of fabulous. With its modern ambiance and a menu that could make even the most seasoned food critic swoon, Buckhead’s newest Mediterranean after-hours spot is an affair to remember.
The door is opened for you by the lovely security crew out front. They are there to ensure a smooth transition inside with all patrons following their strict dressy-formal dress code. Once you’re inside, the host section will either get your reservation pulled up or direct you to the bar. I highly recommend reserving before arrival if you’d like a table.
Once you’re seated, your informative servers will break down the menu for you and give you suggestions on the best choices for the night. This is not a cheap night out, but the exceptional dining experience is worth it.
For solo dates, I recommend catching an Uber if you’re close enough. If not, they offer valet to ensure your safety either way.
2. Mai Kitchen 🍜
Imagine a fusion of traditional Vietnamese with a contemporary twist. That’s Mai Kitchen for you. This spot is a symphony of flavors that'll dance on your palate. My personal recommendation? The Pho – it’s soulful, comforting, and oh-so-delicious. Pair it with a cocktail, find a cozy corner, and lose yourself in the ambiance.
Mai Kitchen is located in the bustling neighborhood of Virginia-Highlands. I recommend getting seated by the open window where you can people-watch and enjoy your noodles. The drinks are super strong, but the area is also very walkable. If ever there was a good spot for a breezy, boozy stroll, this would be it. A few doors down is a bookshop, and all around the neighborhood are fun hidden gems in plain sight.
Also, the staff: one of a kind! You might come for the food, but you'll stay for the vibes.
3. Tulum ATL 🌮
Dreaming of a mini-getaway? Tulum ATL is your passport to a Mexican paradise, right here in the heart of the city. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a tropical escape. The décor, inspired by the beaches of Tulum, feels like a warm embrace. From ceviches to margaritas, every dish and drink is a journey.
What makes Tulum the perfect destination for a solo date is the fact that there is so much going on, essentially all of the time. Whether there’s a live performance or a busy Saturday night with tons of people, your eyes will be just as full as your tummy by the time you head home.
And, as if the ambiance wasn’t enough, the dishes are as beautiful as they are delicious. The Pollo Asada Al Nino is one of those dishes that makes you wish you were home so that you can eat it the way you really want to. The good news is you might be able to bring it home because of the heavy portions they serve. Good luck finishing it all on your own in one night. Either way, still get dessert! (Cheesecake shooters please!)
And hey, don’t forget to snap a pic for the 'gram – this place is every content creator’s dream backdrop.
4. The Starling Hotel 🏨
Talk about a staycation done right! The Starling Hotel is the epitome of luxury. Book yourself a weekend here, and you won’t regret a second. The plush rooms, world-class amenities, and impeccable service are a testament to the hotel's commitment to excellence. However, even if you don’t make it up the elevators, The Starling provides a darling open-concept restaurant right on its main entrance. Every Friday from 6-9 pm, they host a free Jazz night open to the public.
They’re located in midtown off Juniper and they provide a full menu with cocktails. If you love pictures as much as I do, you’ll love the shots you’ll be able to take in this breathtakingly beautiful venue.
It’s a reason to get dressed, get pretty, and order a martini, extra dirty. Why not? Live a little.

Ladies, remember, solo dating is not just about finding yourself; it's about celebrating yourself. It's a reminder that you, on your own, are enough. But while we're at it, let's also acknowledge the men who recognize our worth, treat us with the respect and love we deserve, and elevate our lives in every sense.
Until next time, choose one of these spots, get dressed and tag #SoloInTheCity so I can share your picture on the page!
